Always ready with a suggestion or an insightful remark, yet gracious in his deferral to a director's overall vision, Alain doesn't just add music to the visuals - he takes your final cut and gives it wings. His sense of humour, balanced by his dedication to his craft, makes him a rare breed in the ever-widening landscape of pop-up film composers, many of whom lack the education, stamina, sensitivity and movie savvy which are at the very heart of Alain's talent. I heartily recommend that you make use of it." Kevin Bottomley |

As a producer, I receive a large number of demo reels from composers, and I have not heard anyone that can match Alain’s versatility, mastery and sensitivity to the material; his is a remarkable talent. As a director, I appreciate his excellent communication and total commitment to supporting the director’s vision for the story. He will put forward quality ideas that show a true and often illuminating understanding of the story, and support those ideas extremely well, yet he will never try to override the director’s choices. I could not be more impressed with his talent, his work ethic, and his total commitment to his craft and the art of film. Jeff Richards |

He was quick to embrace a live, instrumental sound and he quickly developed a reference point based on a traditional Russian folk theme. It was exactly what was needed. 'Alain was relentless. At times the intensity of his efforts surpassed every other aspect of post production.. and that was before he assembled a 50-piece orchestra for the recording. When I sat in the auditorium and listened to the first take of the first cue, it sent shivers down my spine. With his score, Alain made my films look better. Case in point: "Say Yes" was originally to have the Bobby Darin song, "Don't Rain On My Parade" for it's opening and closing but the rights were way beyond our meagre budget and at the Eleventh Hour I through this corker of a suggestion into Alain's already burdened lap... "Hey, can we just use an original song that has the same feel as Bobby Darin?" Instead of telling me where to shove it, Alain took it in stride and delivered a terrific opening number with as much enthusiasm, skill and passion as every other note in the score. Neil Every |
